BASA: Whoa, Slow, Go for Kindergarten

After a successful summer of implementing cooking and nutritional classes during camp, we were awarded a Small Bites grant through Common Thread's Cooking for Life for the school year! Common Threads was so impressed with what we did with students over the summer, they offered us resources to continue programming for all of Youth Guidance BASA this school year.

One Friday a month, our regular BASA students will participate in an hour long class focusing on nutrition and healthy eating. The classes will initiate learning through recipe-driven games, nutritional facts, cultural information, and short cooking lessons. Students will have an opportunity to try recipes during each lesson. All ingredients will be nut-free and accommodate allergies. This curriculum is provided at no additional cost to students enrolled in Youth Guidance After School BASA. In order to provide activities for all our students, a Friday during the month will be dedicated to an age group.
