Ravenswood Rambler - April 1, 2019

Eye on Equity

We’re excited to launch Dear Ravenswood, a new feature of the Ravenswood Rambler’s “Eye on Equity” focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion in our school community.  Watch for “Dear Ravenswood” notes in the newsletter where we’ll pose a new question and link some great resources.

Future editions will include contributions from families, school leaders, teachers, students, and community members. Look out for Coffee with Dear Ravenswood events as an opportunity to engage with these resources in person. We look forward to igniting thoughtful conversation, celebrating our strengths, and surfacing our areas for growth as we strive to be a school community for all students and families.

Dear Ravenswood,

How do you talk to your kids about race?

Check out these great resources to spark the conversation or new inspiration to keep it going at home:

• Explore EmbraceRace · “Supporting caregivers to raise children who are brave, informed, and thoughtful about race.”

• Join Raising Race Conscious Children on Facebook · “A blog and workshop series that supports parents and teachers to advance racial justice.”

These classes will also perform: 305, 304, 110, 109, 207 (PM show only), 206 (PM show only), 008 (AM show only) and 007 (AM show only).

Both times are open to parents. Two times are offered in hopes to allow parents to attend one performance and also allow the student body to watch the show without the gym being overcrowded.

In the Spring Showcase this year, both shows are the same except the preschool only performs in the morning show and Kindergarten only performs in the afternoon show.
