Ram Jam Talent Show Extravaganza
When: First Rehearsal on May 21st at 4:15pm, Dress Rehearsal on May 28th at 4:30pm, Extravaganza Talent Show on May 31st at 5pm
The Variety Show has been removed from our end of year schedule and we are instead hosting a final, no-holds-barred Ram Jam Extravaganza. Dust off your old tap shoes, warm up your singing voice, practice your best magic tricks and funniest jokes, grab a friend and come join us in the gym for the Ram Jam to end all jams!
Changes this year to the show include: 1) All students acts who come to practices will be in the show. 2) The show is being organized by parent volunteers rather than a teacher and 3) The show will take place during the evening rather than the school day.
Eye on Equity Coffee Talk
When: Wednesday, May 22nd at 9am in MPR
We’re excited to continue Dear Ravenswood this week, a new feature of the Ravenswood Rambler’s “Eye on Equity” focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion in our school community. Twice a month, we’ll pose a question and link some great resources from the web and contributions from families, school leaders, teachers, students, or community members. Our monthlyCoffee with Dear Ravenswood will be held on Wednesday, May 22nd at 9am in the MPR--this is a great opportunity to engage with these resources in person. We look forward to igniting thoughtful conversation, celebrating our strengths, and surfacing our areas for growth as we strive to be a school community for all students and families.
How do we talk to kids about race and racism?
Check out these great resources to spark the conversation or new inspiration to keep it going:
Listen to “How to Not (Accidently) Raise a Racist” from the podcast, The Longest Shortest Time
Explore “How to Talk to Your Kids about Race and Racism”from Parent Toolkit
Parent Workshop on Childhood Anxiety
When: Wednesday, May 22nd at 6pm in 4th Floor Learning Lab
Augustyn Family Services is a counseling practice located in the Ravenswood neighborhood that provides services to children, teens, adults, couples and families in our community. In recent years, we have noticed an increase in school age children who are struggling with stress and anxiety. These issues can show up in many different ways and this event will help parents identify when their child is struggling with the amount of pressure that they are feeling. We will talk about effective strategies that can be used at home when your child is stressed and/or anxious. Parents will learn ways to support their anxious child and help their child have increased distress tolerance skills. This is an issue that is occurring throughout the country and also one that is typically completely manageable with some supportive interventions. Please join us to learn more about stress and anxiety in school aged children and how to help children who struggle with these difficult feelings.
