Ravenswood Rambler - May 6, 2019

Dear Ravenswood Families and Friends,

Ravenswood is a great place for students to learn and grow because we make it great. When an entire community works together to work to give every student what they need, something powerful happens. This week marks National Teacher Appreciation Week, and I want to take this moment to shout out to our incredible, dedicated Ravenswood staff.

As you probably already know and have heard, I'm not shy when it comes to talking about my staff. They are the most thoughtful, passionate and dedicated group of educators I've ever seen or heard of being assembled in one school. I am continually inspired by their care for their students and families. I know many of you have story after story of how Ravenswood staff have worked to support, care for and educate your child in partnership with you.

This week, I have a favor to ask. Being an educator can be a demanding job, and it means the world to our staff to hear back from you when we get it right. My ask is that you take a moment (or three) this week and let an educator (or three) at Ravenswood know what their work has meant to you and for your child. We are our strongest when we work together and care for one another. Join me this week in celebrating the adults who work everyday on behalf of your child and every child in this building!

Principal Selection Update:

Last week, you were promised that you'd have a family survey to voice your opinions on the future of Ravenswood to the LSC. After two intensive special LSC meetings that were attended by a large group of parents and teachers, and a thorough training by the wider LSC relations office, we took some constructive feedback on the survey and decided to take a second look at it. The survey – and many rich opportunities to be involved and have your voice heard – are on their way. The next is a special meeting tomorrow night, Tuesday, May 7th at 6:30pm in Room 104, where we will be reviewing our process and communication plans and the revised survey. We welcome and greatly value your public comment at the opening of the meeting.
