Ravenswood Rambler - June 3, 2019
Dear Ravenswood Families and Friends,
It's hard to believe, but we are almost to the end of the year. With only a few short weeks left, every day of student attendance matters! Please make sure your child is here everyday they are healthy for these remaining days of school. We are using this time to wrap up remaining academic study, closing out our year and communities, and helping prepare students for next year.
On a different note, this week at Ravenswood we are celebrating our Ravenswood Volunteer Appreciation Week! Ravenswood is a great place for students to learn and grow because you make it great. Thank you to the many, many, many volunteers who give their time, energy, expertise and service to make this school what it is. From our Room Parents to our Snowball volunteers to our campus clean up participants to our lunch monitors to our work station parents who cut papers, make copies and generally allow our staff to focus on supporting your child. On behalf of the Ravenswood staff, we thank you for your service to our school and students. Thank you for loving all our children enough to give your time and energy to our community! #ravenswoodrocks
End of Year Events: We have a few events to close out our year that are each Ravenswood traditions in their own right: Inquiry Day (6/12), Field Day (6/17) and Ramapalooza (6/19). We will send out more information through your child's teacher and/or your room parent for these events, so stay tuned!
Class Assignments for Next Year: We will write your child's room assignment for next year on their final report card to send home with your child.
Have a great week, everyone.

This week we’d like to shine a spotlight on the many volunteers that keep this community ticking. From making copies for a teacher to running a fundraiser, every single moment of volunteerism makes a difference to Ravenswood School. Whatever your role, regardless of the amount of time you’ve given, join us Monday morning in the MPR at 9am and/or Wednesday night at the Ravenswood Loft at 7pm to celebrate a successful year of working together!

The 8th Graders are on their way to DC!
The eighth-graders are heading to Washington, D.C. for their class trip! The D.C. trip will show our students how people from different backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs are all part of the United States. The students will visit the U.S. Museums and National Landmarks. It's a culmination of our students' history, art, social studies, and language arts classes.
For many of our eighth-graders, this will be their first trip outside of Chicago. The students and their families have worked hard all year to raise funds for this trip. Many thanks to all who helped make this trip a reality.
Allergy Awareness Week
Allergy Awareness Week will consist of activities for students and information for parents about supporting students with allergies. All activities will take place from 3:45-4:30 on the playground.
Monday, June 10 - Allergy Awareness Ribbon Decoration
Tuesday, June 11 - Make and Take Trail Mix
Wednesday, June 12 - Poster Making
Thursday, June 13, Make Your Own "Spa" Water
Friday, June 14, Healthy Snack Give Away
As a reminder, Ravenswood strives to be a nut free school. This helps to protect students from being exposed to life threatening allergens. Please remember that the nut policy applies to all food being brought into the school as well as food consumed on the playground.
Inquiry Day is Wednesday, June 12th!
Students have been working with their classes on various Inquiry Projects this quarter and Inquiry Day is when everyone at Ravenswood is "going public". If the classroom is inviting parents to participate in the going public celebration, the teacher will let parents know the specific times dedicated for parent visits.
