I am extremely excited to be starting a new school year with your family! I joined the Ravenswood community in 2009 and am thrilled to have found a school like none other in Chicago.
Originally from St. Louis, I earned my Bachelor's in Psychology from Truman State University. After two years in service with AmeriCorps, I decided to pursue my love for early education by moving to Chicago to attend Erikson Institute. At Erikson I earned my Master’s in Early Childhood Education. When I’m not in the classroom, I swim on a Master’s swim team (Go Chicago Smelts!), participate in a monthly book club, and go out to eat more often than I probably should!
I am so excited and feel so lucky to have found such an amazing school as Ravenswood to continue my teaching career. I’m thrilled to get the chance to work with you and your child, I love coming to school and can’t wait to both teach my students as well as learn from them the entire year!
I am originally from St. Louis, Missouri. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Dance and Spanish at Ohio Wesleyan University. Upon graduating, I moved to Chicago and was lucky enough to find a job at Ravenswood. After teaching for a few years, I went back to school and received a Master’s of Arts in Language, Literature, and Culture with an English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement, from North Park University. Besides teaching, my other interests include dancing, reading, traveling, learning new languages, and going to theatre shows.
I recently participated in the Playing With Numbers Math Professional Development Series at the Chicago Children’s Museum. Currently, I am participating in a year long training with the Gust Foundation about inclusive education practices.
I’m very excited to be starting another school year at Ravenswood! I joined the Ravenswood team in 2016 and strongly believe that this community is one of a kind.
After growing up in Michigan, I attended Indiana University where I double majored in Special Education and Elementary Education (Go Hoosiers!). Knowing that I wanted to teach in an urban setting, I made the move to Chicago and was lucky enough to be welcomed into the Ravenswood Elementary community.
When I’m not at school, you can find me at the YMCA, trying new restaurants, or exploring Chicago neighborhoods.
I’m so happy to be able to call Ravenswood my home away from home and to be entering another year in this incredible school! I’ve been teaching kindergarten and first grade since 2004, including four years that I spent at another CPS school before joining the Ravenswood family.
After growing up in a suburb of Chicago, I began my education at DePaul University where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. After teaching kindergarten for a year at Ravenswood, I discovered my passion for early childhood, which led me to earn my Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, which I completed at Erikson Institute. I live with my husband and three boys not far from our school and love being a part of this community. You may see me out and about with my sons Luca, Leo, and Nico, and I’ll be sharing lots of stories about them with the class.
Every day that I spend working with young children is a learning experience for me. I feel lucky that I am able to get up everyday to go to work doing something I love in such a wonderful school community!
I am so excited to begin a new school year with the Ravenswood team! I joined the Ravenswood team in February of last school year and can not wait to see what this year has in store! I am passionate about teaching your children as much as I am passionate about learning from your children and can not wait to grow with the Ravenswood community as a lifelong learner!
I grew up in the city of Chicago, and attended CPS for elementary and high school. In 2016, I graduated from Northeastern Illinois university with a BA in Special Education. A quick Fun fact: I graduated from Ravenswood in 2006! So my history with the school runs quite deep and I couldn’t be happier to now be a part of the staff here to make the impact that was made on me all those years ago!
Outside of school, I enjoy being outside and all outdoor activities (the mountains in Colorado have a piece of my heart) going on adventures with my husband (yay newlyweds) and dog Harley, and hula hoop dancing! I also enjoy spending time with my nephew Niko, and twin nieces Abby and Katie!
I am so excited to start this school year and am looking forward to getting to know our students and their parents!
After growing up in Rogers Park, I began my education at Northeastern Illinois University where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. I went back to school in 2012 and earned my Master’s Degree in Bilingual/Bicultural Education, which I also completed at Northeastern Illinois University. I decided to go back to school in the spring of 2017 to pursue a Master’s Degree in School Leadership, which I hope to complete in 2-3 years. When I’m not at school or working on a DIY project (i.e., mason jar crafts), I enjoy spending time with my husband, Yogi (pet beagle), and my family. I absolutely love trying new recipes, Zumba, reading, and traveling to new places.
