Volunteering at Ravenswood
The tremendous support and efforts of our volunteers and community make our school the wonderful place that it is. We always welcome new volunteers!
Our volunteers support us across many areas, using many different skill sets, so please choose the area(s) you’re most interested in. We appreciate all of your help and support!
Bilingual Advisory Club / International Club - advises on best practices for bilingual and English Language Learners, and hosts multicultural and globally themed events for our school.
Extracurricular coach / leader - provides coaching or mentoring for an extracurricular activity, like basketball, Girl Scouts, or band. Please note that most extracurricular leads are considered CPS Level 1 volunteers, and a CPS background check is required.
FAME (Fine Arts Magnet Education) - supports and advises arts integration for the school.
Friends of Ravenswood School (FORS) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization made up of parents and community members that work together with the administration, faculty and staff to raise funds, build community and facilitate communication for the benefit of our school. If you’re interested in getting involved with FORS, please send us an email or come to one of our meetings or events.
Library Committee - advises on the buildout, collection and staffing of the school’s volunteer-run library.
Local School Council (LSC) - provides governance for our school. LSC members are elected, but anyone can attend meetings and provide input.
Room Parents - support our teachers through classroom organization, communications, and event planning.
Wellness Committee - ensures our status as a healthy CPS school. At Ravenswood, the Wellness Committee also supports allergy awareness.
