This is Chicago! Schools are open and classes are held in all types of weather. If it’s a school day, we expect to see your students here and ready to learn!
Indoor Arrival: If there is heavy rain, lightning or the windchill is below 15, the main door (Door 2, on Paulina) will open at 8:30 for students to come in and wait inside. Parents are asked to leave their students inside the door. School staff will help younger students find their indoor drop-off location if needed. You’ll see orange flags announcing an indoor arrival day, flying at the main entrance, on the north corner by Montrose, and on the south corner of the school by the playground. Flags will be up by 8:15am.
Outdoor recess: Recess is held outside if the windchill is above 15º Farenheit (-10º Celsius). Please ensure your students are dressed warmly, or have warm clothes in their backpacks or lockers. We use Weather.com to confirm temperatures.
Snow days: CPS sets our snow day policy and determines when to close schools. If school is cancelled for snow, or for any other reason, we’ll share an update as soon as possible through our newsletter, Facebook page, on Twitter, on Instagram, and through our room parents.
